No-cost, comprehensive infant eye assessments for children between 6 and 12 months of age.
No-cost, comprehensive infant eye assessments for children between 6 and 12 months of age.
The American Optometric Association recommends scheduling your baby's first eye assessment at 6 months, even if no eye or vision problems are apparent. As a public service, participating optometrists provide no-cost, comprehensive eye exams for any infant between 6 and 12 months of age through the InfantSEE program.
Your optometrist will test for excessive or unequal amounts of nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism; eye movement ability; and eye health problems. While these problems are not common, it's important for your baby to be tested so that appropriate steps can be taken to correct any eye health or vision problems. Early detection is the best way to ensure your child has healthy eyes and appropriate development of vision- now and in the future.
InfantSEE® is a public health program, managed by Optometry Cares® - the AOA Foundation, is designed to ensure that eye and vision care becomes an essential part of infant wellness care to improve a child's quality of life.
